We have received a lot of feedback on our posting which looked at the Garcetti/Gruel election through the lens of ethnic & partisanship breakdown of voters. Several have asked for analysis of other races. While we don’t have all the data at our fingertips, below are the results of the City Attorney and City Controller races broken down by Partisanship and Ethnicity.
With the same caveat about not reading too much into this analysis, the following findings can be weighed against other polling or campaign insider knowledge about the races:
- In the City Attorney race Feuer did slightly better among Democrats while Zine did better with Republicans. Feuer locked down white voters but did not appear to be on solid footing with Latinos which were more correlated to Trutanich votes.
- In the City Controller contest the greatest break was with non-partisans who favored Galperin. In terms of ethnicity, Galperin was higher with white voters while Zine obtained more of his votes from precincts with higher Latino concentrations.
